My 9 MOST VALUABLE INSIGHTS AFTER BEING FIRED.
1. The person who hired (or engaged) you is not necessarily the person you need to impress, no matter what their status is in the company.
2. When someone seems to take an instant dislike to you, the more you try to get them to like you (or to find out why they don’t like you), the deeper the hole you dig for yourself.
3. Getting fired, terminated, dismissed, laid off, retrenched, discharged or whatever verb you’d like to include on this list, may have nothing to do with the quality of your work or how valuable an asset you can be to a business. Don’t take it personally. Nothing is worth a heavy heart.
4. Stay true to you, and if you gave up a part of yourself in order to satisfy what someone else wanted, just claim that part back now. Who you really are is always standing right by your side no matter how far away you think you’ve gotten.
5. Spend as little time as possible thinking about what you might have done differently. Sometimes (probably mostly) there is nothing for you to change – except, what you decide to focus your attention on right now.
6. No matter what it might look like on the surface, something even better will bubble up from beneath the disappointment, loss or sadness. All you need do next is to stay open to possibilities, to trust your instincts and keep moving forward.
7. Concentrate on what you enjoyed the most about the job, or the people, or the environment, or the potential you saw way back in the beginning – talk about it, write it down, think about it ‘til the cows come home. Let THAT be the energy that draws the next exciting adventure towards you, effortlessly, beneficially and nourishingly.
8. Affirm who you know you really are when you’re feeling your best. “I am brilliant, I am wise, I am creative, I am innovative, I am a leader, I am incredibly good at what I do, I am a winner, I am guided, I am loved, I am free, I am clear about what’s right for me …
9. Imagine that this is a wonderfully, valuable experience, and remember, in the words of Abraham Hicks, “The entire Universe is knocking itself out, to give you everything you want!” Let that be your mantra!
